Genre Project Filming:
It was confirmed that i was going to play the main character during filming, which to be honest i was not completely happy about because at the day i was really not feeling to be in camera and to be acting. My goal is not to become an actor. I read Sanchias' script and did what i could.
On Wednesday 18th of October we filmed the interview scene and in Thursday the 19th we filmed all the outdoor scenes. I did what i was told to do and that was it. We did use lighting equipment and it was decided we wanted hard light for the interview scene. Natural lighting was used for the outdoor scene.
Genre Project Editing:
After all the footage and audio recorded was shared i went home to edit on my Laptop. It was a pretty quick edit.
I started out with footage selection and picked out the ones i was sure i would use and then synchronised the audio that was recorded separately. I than began piecing all the footage i picked out together, added text, colour graded, added voice overs and than finally added music i found suitable and liked. I will write more depth about editing in my evaluation with picture references as well..
Final Genre trailer project:
To the right you can see the final trailer.
It is evident that is not much like a traditional trailer with a lot more of a sequence of shots and cinematic music to go along with the pace of the sequence.
I used lesser amount of footage and choice music that suited the pace and feel.

Evaluation:
The final trailer ended up being a lot better than i expected. I did follow a lot of traditional conventions of a trailer with following a narrative and putting some space between the narrative to keep it less simple structured and boring.
I did also use text to give some context on the character and what the audience should be looking for: interactions with OCD.
The trailer starts off with just dialogue with Joe questioning the main characters weaknesses in a job interview looking scenario. At this point the is no music or any non diegetic sounds. We just have Joes dialogue. I dip the screen to black then music subtlety comes on and it progresses after i add Sanchias voiceover in. I added the text "A YOUNG MAN WITH OCD" because i wanted to give more context to the audience on what the potential movie is about. Without the text it would be more confusing and less interesting to most. I followed the same patterns of edit with slight modifications to cater the footage to the music and dialogue through the rest of the trailer.
I did have to use some noise reduction with some dialogue, but with Sanchia's voiceover i did not have to. We had to use Sanchia's voiceover because due to some errors my one did not get recorded. My group planned to pitch Sanchias voice down to make it sound more manly, but i thought it would be more interesting and cleaner to keep her actual voice. It almost sounds like spoken poetry from a personified version of the main characters intrusive thoughts.
You can also quite clearly see that i did some exaggerated colour grading to give off more of sorrowful and abstract feel to the trailer. Without the colour grading it looked pretty flat and amateurish. I wanted to make the colour seem like it was all from the main character perspective as in those colours is what he was saying. One peer did say the colouring seemed pretty harsh and do i think i could have toned it down a lot and still give of the same feel. Maybe i got to excited with the colouring. I then after added some black boarders to make it look more cinematic:
Overall this was a pretty beneficial unit, since i got to interact with a larger group which gave me more of an insight on how i should approach individuals in a group and how to get directed by someone else. I also got reminded that the word Genre actually origins from french and means simply type. What i would have done different in this group is to bring up the issue of assigning roles because i felt there was no real order in the group since there was no clear roles.
